These empty nesters found their home halfway to the cottage

“THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE ARE HERE IN HARRISTON,” SAY JOHN & CINDY HABART

Tell us about you and your family.

“Our family is spread out from southern Ontario to Denver, Colorado. We have 3 sons and a daughter, 3 grandchildren and another on the way. It’s just John and I in Harriston, but the kids in Ontario are not too far away. Oh, and we have a little dog named Daisy.”

Where did you move from and why did you decide to move to Minto?

“John and I are both originally from Toronto, but moved to western Ontario many years ago, and most recently we lived in Hespeler. We have a cottage in Sauble Beach, so we always passed through Harriston when driving up there. So the decision was easy to move to Harriston.”

What are some of your favourite ways to spend time in Minto?

“We frequent the beautiful library and have joined the walking group at the arena. We love how close we are to downtown.”

Do you have a favourite local business or place to shop?

“I love [home decor store] The Perfect Piece, and John likes that there’s a Home Hardware in town. Because of pandemic lockdowns we haven’t had the opportunity to sample everything here yet. We can’t wait!”

What would you tell someone who was interested in living or moving here?

“I would say that you have the best of both worlds: all the conveniences mixed with the gorgeous rural areas right on your doorstep.”
